Michael was born on July 23rd, 2008 with profound bilateral sensorineural hearing loss. Micheal wore hearing aids from the time he was 4 months old until the day of surgery. We decided that we didn't want anything to hold Mikey back from living as close to a normal life as possible even having a hearing loss so we moved forward with cochlear implants. I have created this page for friends and family to follow Mikey's progress and for parents that may be in the same situation we were with making this desicion. I found it very helpful to look at other parents blogs/pages for their children when we were making one of the hardest choices of our lives. Thanks for reading.

Name the picture...

Okay, so Mikeys has always been really good at pointing out a picture when you say the name to him but we are encouraging him to use his words. We have been practicing with a book with pictures of 100 things and asking him "what is that" and the following is the pictures that he knows and SAYS the name of when asked... its pretty awesome.

shoes
ball
fish
bike
bottle
banana
bear
brush
cup
cheese
tree
butterfly
socks
shirt
cat
bird
pig
car
truck

He is doing a great job at calling everyone by name including the animals :)
After working for even a little while though Mike gets very tired and has to take breaks. I caught him today though sitting on the stairs just having a little conversation with himself just babbling away about Suey (our pig) thats the only part I really understood but he doesnt babble very often so I just thought it was soo cute!
