Michael was born on July 23rd, 2008 with profound bilateral sensorineural hearing loss. Micheal wore hearing aids from the time he was 4 months old until the day of surgery. We decided that we didn't want anything to hold Mikey back from living as close to a normal life as possible even having a hearing loss so we moved forward with cochlear implants. I have created this page for friends and family to follow Mikey's progress and for parents that may be in the same situation we were with making this desicion. I found it very helpful to look at other parents blogs/pages for their children when we were making one of the hardest choices of our lives. Thanks for reading.

Mikey is talking

Mikey is saying "mama", "up", "bubbles" and "bye bye". He can follow one step directions such as, "put it in the trash". He will point to your eyes and nose when you ask him where they are. He does get "eyes" and "nice" confused sometimes :) He does the sign for nice when you tell him to "be nice". He does very well wearing his implants for the most part, but will not wear them when he gets sleepy or in the car.His progress is amazing considering he has only been "turned on" for 2 months.
