Michael was born on July 23rd, 2008 with profound bilateral sensorineural hearing loss. Micheal wore hearing aids from the time he was 4 months old until the day of surgery. We decided that we didn't want anything to hold Mikey back from living as close to a normal life as possible even having a hearing loss so we moved forward with cochlear implants. I have created this page for friends and family to follow Mikey's progress and for parents that may be in the same situation we were with making this desicion. I found it very helpful to look at other parents blogs/pages for their children when we were making one of the hardest choices of our lives. Thanks for reading.

So far this summer...

Mikey is steadily making progress. Hes speaking sentences now, such as "no want go night night" "wanna watch umizoomi" stuff like that. So, he is getting much better as far as telling us his wants, and what he doesnt want! Hes great with peoples names (except his own) we are working on that now. He will call whoever he doesnt know "guy" :) Mikey is doing so much better using his words in front of people even in groups of people. He was pretty shy before about it. But now, he says bye bye and love you. He still loves his puzzles and naming pictures of people and things so we still do that alot too.

On a side note: We only have 2 more weeks left with Beth for speech therapy. I am very sad about this since shes been with him for so long :(she has been a very important part of his life through all of this and  next Wednesday will be a sad day. But Mikeys gonna do something very special for her so she will always remember him. (not that I think that would ever be a problem)
